Wild hogs found in Elkhart County

MIDDLEBURY, Ind. (WANE) – Indiana conservation officers are investigating a report of two feral hogs discovered near U.S. 20 and County Road 12 in the Elkhart County town of Middlebury Friday, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources reported.

At approximately 5:15 p.m., witnesses said a woman came home to find a pig in her yard. As she went to enter her house the pig came toward her, so she contacted her brother.

Once he arrived, he found two feral hogs with approximately three-inch tusks. The brother contacted Indiana Conservation Officer Seth Owens and was advised that feral hogs were nuisance animals and could be destroyed. Both hogs were destroyed.
