From the Indiana Department of Natural Resources:
Old Time Winter on the Farm at O’Bannon Woods State Park on Jan. 28 offers something for the whole family.
Held in the Hickory Hollow Interpretive Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event offers the chance to experience a day in the life of a pioneer. The living pioneer farmstead features a working blacksmith shop, pioneer homestead, tomahawk throwing and pioneer demonstrations of all kinds.
The main feature of this event is a tour of the unique 1850 haypress. The haypress tour takes place from 1-2 p.m.
Participants can meet and greet with Forest and Gump, short-horned oxen being trained to work the oxen-run haypress, get a photo taken with them and see them in action.
All activities will take place if weather and road conditions are suitable. Call (812) 738-8234 if road conditions are questionable. The entrance fee is $5 per car for Indiana residents and $7 per car for out-of-state residents.
