Body in Wildcat likely missing woman

A female body pulled early Friday afternoon from the Wildcat Creek is likely that of Kerry Dunsmore, a Lafayette woman who has been missing since Jan. 26.

Her official identification won’t be available until at least today, when the Tippecanoe County coroner’s office completes an autopsy. But clothing on the recovered body — blue jeans, black-and-gray jacket — matched what Dunsmore, 43, was last seen wearing, said Detective Jeff Rooze of the Lafayette Police Department.

The location also is near where Dunsmore’s vehicle — her purse and cellphone left behind — was found on Jan. 26 at a Wildcat Creek public access site off Indiana 26 near Monitor.

“We won’t know for sure until the autopsy, but we do believe it’s her,” Rooze said.
